I’ve noticed that my students tend to have a lot of difficulty incorporating direct quotations into their writing. Too often, I’ve been complicit in that by simply telling my students, “You need quotes to back up what you’re saying. Make sure you use direct quotes in your writing.” I haven’t always given them the tools they need to know how to use a direct quote in their writing.
This year, I aimed to remedy that situation by creating a Powerpoint that, in color-coded simplicity, gives students four specific methods to use at the sentence level.

I’m hoping others out there find it useful, too! If you use it, leave me a comment and let me know if it was helpful for your classroom.
